In May of 1991 my mother drove Grandma Jerry and I down to Springfield, Ohio, to visit her sisters. It was a long drive and was the first one that was just the 3 of us "Jones" girls. While on the way, Grandma had to stop at the "Grandpa's Cheese Barn" in Ashland, Ohio. (It's just the name, not a relative) I had never seen a Cheese Barn and she wanted candy for the road. There were tons of meats, cheeses, spreads (salsas, dips, peppers, etc) in the large 2 story barn that was remodeled to show off their merchandise. There were also smaller buildings surrounding the large barn. One was filled with candy - homemade fudge being their main attraction, but also buckeyes (peanut butter balls covered in chocolate that look like the state nut, a Buckeye). The cheese barn had this little mouse mascot outside, so mum took a pic of us by it. At the time, I hated my picture being taken (as you can probably tell!). Nowadays, I cherish every picture I have of myself and my grandmother. I also try to get people to take pictures of myself and my mum regularly, when I visit. Pictures really are priceless, and I wish I would have smiled more in them. But, back then I was depressed all the time and it came out as anger because I didn't want to cry.
