That is an astounding number to me-five thousand one hundred and twenty seven.
Why? Because Sir James Dyson had 5,127 documented 'failures' when trying to create his Dyson vacuum. I can't imagine trying an invention 10 times and failing and continuing on it- let alone 5,127 times! There are a bajillion sayings about failure: "To err is human" "Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly." "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Our world seems to run on success alone. We see it in headlines and celebrate it. But it is often not a tangible thing. It is elusive and seems light years away, at times. I need to start celebrating my 'failures' instead of looking back on my life and only celebrating successes.
